| Testimonials- |
"I took three planes from Central Mississippi to attend Gene and Sandy's farrier clinic and had a great time. I have little horse experience other than hauling hay, building fences and feeding, but in as little as four days Gene fostered my shoeing skills and confidence allowing me to level, shoe and correct a horse's foot with better precision than I would've believed. The rest is up to me, the foundation is set. I plan on honing these skills as soon as I get home. After meeting the Millers I have a greater interest in my family's horses and after learning about the other educational opportunities with GEA, I may build on my knowledge and perhaps explore a career in an equine business with my wife in Mississippi. Gene and Sandy have a wealth of equine knowledge and it's right there for you if you want it." (M. Ayres Vicksburg, MI)

It was a tremendous week for me. I had a great time and learned a lot. Since I was a kid, I have loved horses and growing up in Chicago, not having enough money to support a horse while raising a family, and spending a lot of time traveling in recent years made it impossible to have a horse. Now, I am making time to learn enough about horses to own a couple in the future. I have 7 acres in Indiana that I intend to turn into a small horse farm over the next few years.. I was taking a team driving course at the Kentucky Horse Park, and the instructor mentioned how hard it was to find farriers for draft horses. A light went off and I started looking on the web to learn about horse shoeing. I found that Global Equine Academy had the only farrier course with a reasonable, practical length of instruction for someone who has to work or has other responsibilities. Having completed the course, I am convinced that the length and depth of instruction was right. Each day I learned something new, and it stimulated questions to ask the next day. The variety of hoof conditions we dealt with, from normal to neglected to defective, gave me a good view of the type of conditions I might encounter. With the approach, guidelines and principles Gene taught, I feel confident that I can deal with most hooves. Besides the shoeing, I soaked up a lot about how you care for and train horses.
By the time I got home, I had made a list of other equipment I want to get, and people I want to contact about shoeing their horses. Thanks also for the great lunches and the goody-bag for the trip home.Best wishes to all of you, Gene, Sandy and Chad, and thank you. (Tom Collins,Chicago, IL)

I thought that I was coming out for farrier school but on top of that I feel like I met and gained a new family. Sandy, Gene and Chad made us feel so welcome. In life I take nothing for granted, I will forever cherish the time shared with you and your family during this past week. However I know I am in debt to God for allowing me to meet you. I will not hesitate to call if I need help and I know that Chad and Gene and truly there if and, when I need them. Thank you so much for opening your home and your heart to my father and I. I hope that this will be only the beginning of a life long friendship. You, Gene and Chad have my word, that if there is anything that I can ever assist with, help you with, or just maybe listen, I am here no matter how big or small. I feel so special and blessed to know that God has allowed me to meet people like you. I will keep in touch and ask that you do the same.
We did get home safe and sound, been trimming and shoeing already. Loving every moment of it. Thanks again to you, Gene and Chad, for you all have embossed an impression that is irremovable. You are AMAZING!! Thank you for being so WONDERFUL!! (Robbie Curry and Robert Curry, Sr, Poolesville, MD)

I can't say enough good things about your shoeing school. All the sweat and muscle aches were well worth it. Gene and Chad are excellent instructors and very easy to talk to. The meals were worth it alone. I truly left there a better person from knowing you folks and my fellow students. I liked the fact that we worked on all different shapes and sizes and conditions of feet. I've always wanted to shoe my own horses but didn't think I could, but I left your school with the knowledge and confidence to not only shoe my own, but to do it in a way that I know is beneficial to the horse. I never would have believed that you could learn so much in a week. I will remember this week for years to come, not only for the excellent instruction that I received, but also for the friends that I met. Thank you again. (Kevin Richter Kearney, NE)

Attending Gene and Sandy Miller's horseshoeing school was one
of the most enjoyable, challenging, and rewarding activities I've
undertaken. I always thought horseshoeing was something I'd like
to do, but had concerns that it would be too difficult or complex
to accomplish. Not so! Gene was able to teach the techniques of
shoeing in simple, easy to manage steps, while keeping the safety
and comfort of the students and the horses at the forefront of
activities. The immediate hands-on approach Gene used provided
us with a sense of accomplishment and success on the first day.
The variety of horses used in the school was first class. I came
away ready and excited about shoeing my first horses, and having
the confidence to do so. The other students were great to work
with, and Sandy and Gene provided an "at home" comfort
level for all of us. Gene and Sandy's horseshoeing school is awesome
- don't hesitate to sign up first chance you get! (KBird, Tucson,

This is a letter from Ben Holly from Washington State, a graduate of GEA and the Farrier School.
Hello, Gene and Sandy
I just wanted to take a second to write you two a small thank-you. Sandy for all of your generous hospitality and sharing your wonderful wealth of knowledge, I have learned so much. Gene, your patience and uncanny abilities as a teacher are phenomenal. After I attended the farrier school I felt good in the knowledge I gained, however a part of me kept telling myself that I was just a second-class/part-time farrier, after all full-time farriers go to a six week or longer school plus their apprenticeship. However, a recent event changed my thought process. I attend the Farriers Assoc. of WA (FAWS) annual conference about a month ago and man did I learn a lot. I wasn't able to attend the competition due to work, but was able to go to the workshops. After the forge work and adhesives I was still feeling like a lower class as these guys did this kind of thing all of the time. However the next two classes were horsemanship and a shoeing demonstration and that was where it all changed. Most of the guys were amazed at the skills that were given in the horsemanship and I was simply looking for information that I hadn't already learned from you two (which as it turned out the only thing I really picked up was a reinforcement of your methods). When it came to the shoeing demo the instructor was Bruce Hague, CJF who has been a member of the Canadian Farrier Team over ten times, and was given some assistance by Hall of Famer Hank McEwan. The whole focus of the demo was on the basics such as hoof length, hoof size, getting the foot under the horse more and shoe fit.
There wasn't a sole in the arena that wasn't intently listening to all of the information in amazement like they had never heard it before, and all I was looking for was some info that I hadn't already learned from my professional instructor (which again was minimal). I now feel that I may not be as knowledgeable in some of the odd stuff, but when it comes to good shoeing where the basics are essential I am every bit as knowledgeable as most of those farriers and with time under horses I will develop the odd knowledge to be a great farrier. In fact with the knowledge I already have I was able to have a great discussion with Hank, Bruce and a couple of the other farriers and I right in. So, all in all I owe this to you THANK-YOU.
Thanks Again
Ben
